Introduction

At its campuses in Exeter and Cornwall, the University of Exeter blends top-notch research with exceptional student satisfaction. It belongs to the Russell Group of eminent institutions with a focus on research. The University, founded in 1955, has 18,000 students from 130 different nations. Its success is based on a committed relationship with its students and a strong emphasis on excellence. The discovery and treatment of novel kinds of diabetes as well as the development of the most transparent, lightest, and most flexible electrical conductor in the world are recent achievements resulting from research at Exeter. Our research focuses on some of the most fundamental problems that humanity is currently experiencing, and we are increasing investment in research infrastructure in order to maintain our reputation. The construction of our new Living Systems research center, worth £52.5 million, has started. When it opens in 2016, it will concentrate on illness prevention through predictive biology and house 200 scientists. It comes after a significant renovation effort that resulted in the development of top-notch research and teaching facilities for the biosciences. The Sunday Times selected Exeter as its university of the year for 2012–2013. According to the Times, Guardian, and Sunday Times' Higher Education league tables, it is among the top 10 universities in the UK. In addition, it is included among the top 200 universities in the world by QS and Times Higher Education. Exeter has consistently ranked among the top universities for student happiness; according to the National Student Survey, it has never fallen outside the top 10. By placing student service at the core of its strategy, the senior management team has attempted to expand on this strength. Through a specifically formed Budget Scrutiny Group, the Students' Guild is given a significant role in determining financial decisions. They are involved in the early stages of strategic planning. This has produced an impressive level of teamwork and collaborative thinking. The Forum, a £50 million student services building that serves as the focal point of the Streatham Campus and opens onto a lovely piazza, is the most obvious example of this relationship. It has a 400-seat lecture hall, a specially constructed student services center, a store, a bank, and a café. The INTO building, which offers adaptable teaching rooms, a lecture theater, and a learning resource center for foreign students to enhance their English, is one of the other new facilities on the Streatham Campus. The Environment and Sustainability Institute, a £30 million interdisciplinary center that conducts leading-edge research into the effects of environmental change and the mitigation and management of those effects, has benefited the Penryn Campus. The Exchange building also offers a lecture theater, library resources, and areas for small-group discussions and exhibitions. Exeter's success has been built on solid principles of governance, administration, and leadership, as well as a sector-leading partnership with its students and a relentless focus on performance.
