Introduction

Aston University is a public research university with a campus in Birmingham, England. It is located near Gosta Green. In 1895, Aston was founded as the Birmingham Municipal Technical School, and in 1956 it became the first prestigious college of advanced technology in the UK. Queen Elizabeth II granted Aston University a royal charter on April 22, 1966. Aston was recognized by QS as the world's 51st best university based on employer reputation in 2011 and as the world's 47th best institution under 50 years old in 2012. In the UK, it was ranked fifth for graduate employability. According to a poll, it is among the top 20 universities that the top employers in the UK are focusing on. With more than 70% of Aston students participating in a placement year, the highest percentage in the UK, Aston was the first university to introduce the integrated placement year concept.
