Introduction

Informally known as St George's or SGUL, St George's, University of London is a medical school in Tooting, South London, and a constituent institution of the University of London. Its official name is St George's Hospital Medical School. St George's was the second organization in England to offer systematic training programs for doctors, having its beginnings in 1733. (after the University of Oxford). Soon after the University of London was founded in 1836, St. George's became connected with it. In 2008, St. George's Medical School took in about 100 recent graduates, 175 undergraduates, and 10 international students. St. George's is one of the United Hospitals and has a tight relationship with St. George's Hospital.
