Introduction

We got our start in 1862 as a women's Anglican institution for teacher preparation. To commemorate our centennial in 1962, our name was modified to include the current "Bishop Grosseteste" title in honor of Robert Grosseteste, a scientist, philosopher, and bishop of Lincoln who lived in the thirteenth century (so you can thank him for the lengthy name!). We became a fully accredited institution in 2012, and we haven't looked back since. Since 1862, a lot has changed, but we have continued to offer top-notch education and produce highly qualified graduates who go out into the world and improve people's lives.

We've had a rapid expansion in several areas in recent years, maintaining our small-town atmosphere and welcoming atmosphere while diversifying and increasing our course offerings into more fascinating new fields than ever before. Since we have been in the education business for more than 150 years, we still regard ourselves as authorities in the field, but our teaching programs are now offered alongside a diverse range of other academic fields. We currently teach over 2,000 students across a wide range of areas, including our classic PGCE teacher training routes, work-based Foundation Degrees, Masters degrees, and even doctoral study (and much more in between). We take great pleasure in being a caring community that works tirelessly to better the lives of our kids.

We take great pride in the fact that during the past 150 years, our dedication to providing top-notch education has not wavered. We place a great deal of importance on the fact that our students are among the happiest in the UK. Since we genuinely care about our students, we work to assist them from the application stage through graduation. Life after BGU is very important, and we provide a variety of career assistance options to help you along the path.
