Introduction
In Ormskirk, Lancashire, England, there is a campus-based public university called Edge Hill University. Edge Hill College, the first non-denominational teacher training college for women in England, was founded on January 24, 1885. It only began accepting male students in 1959. Edge Hill received Taught Degree Awarding Powers from the Privy Council in 2005, and on May 18, 2006, it became Edge Hill University. In 2014, Edge Hill received the 10th annual Times Higher Education Award for University of the Year. The University was the only university to be shortlisted four times in seven years after being previously selected three times in 2007–2008, 2010–11, and 2011–12 cycles. The university won the top spot in each of the four crucial indicators of a pleased staff in the THE Best University Workplace Survey, earning it the title of THE Best University Workplace in 2015. The Complete University Guide ranked the university's campus at Ormskirk, West Lancashire, as the fifth-safest in the nation and the safest in the North West. Edge Hill has been recognized for its commitment to sustainability by receiving both a Green Flag Award and a commendation in the 2011 Green Gown Awards given by the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges.
