Over 20,000 students attend Southampton Solent University, a university in Southampton, England. East Park Terrace, not far from the city center, is where the main campus is situated. The Southampton College of Art, a private school of art established in 1856, is where the university got its start. The Southampton Institute of Higher Education was founded in 1984 following mergers with the Southampton College of Technology and later the College of Nautical Studies in Warsash.
