Introduction

Leeds Beckett University, originally known as Leeds Metropolitan University and Leeds Polytechnic, is a college with campuses in both Headingley and the city center of Leeds, West Yorkshire. Prior to 1992, it was known as the Leeds Polytechnic before receiving university status. According to HESA 2008/09 figures, the population of students is the fifteenth greatest in Britain. September 2014 saw the adoption of the present moniker. Three new deputy vice chancellors were appointed to oversee strategic development, research and enterprise, and student experience after vice chancellor Susan Price joined the institution in January 2010.
