Introduction

In Northampton, Northamptonshire, England, there is a university called the University of Northampton. The University of Northampton was established in 1999 through the merger of a number of training institutions and was granted full university status in 2005. The institution is located at two locations: Park Campus in the northern suburb of Kingsthorpe and Avenue Campus, which is located north of the town's center and just across from the Racecourse, a sizable open park. Just about 14,000 students attend the university, who has two campuses. It is organized into six schools: business and social sciences; education; health; science and technology (formerly known as applied sciences); and the arts. The Sunley Meeting Centre houses most of the university's conference facilities and is used for management training and development. The institution provides a broad selection of undergraduate degrees, foundation degrees, certificates, and a range of postgraduate possibilities up to PhD level. One of the few institutions in the UK that provides two-year fast-track degrees (currently for management, marketing, and law) as well as four-year extended degrees with a year spent working in industry. The university is well-known throughout the world for its research and education in waste management. Center for Children and Youth (childhood and children's geographies), Transpersonal Psychology, leather technology, and lift engineering are further centers of excellence. Undergraduate students enrolled in degree programs in environmental science have the option to travel abroad for fieldwork in places like North America and the Canary Islands.
