A modest school that will revolutionize education in Liverpool and open doors for the city's working class was established in 1825. People in positions of authority and influence who understood the transformational power of education and the influence that learning and aspiration might have on people, communities, and society formed the Liverpool Mechanics Institute. It was the country's first institution of its kind to be established.
