Introduction
A public university in Southampton, England is known as the University of Southampton (often shortened to Soton). The Russell Group of top-tier British institutions was founded by Southampton University, a research-intensive institution. The Hartley Institution, which was established in 1862 as Henry Robinson Hartley's legacy to the Corporation of Southampton, is where the university's roots may be traced. The Institution changed its name to Hartley University College in 1902, and the University of London began awarding degrees. The University of Southampton was granted a Royal Charter on April 29, 1952, granting it full university status. It belongs to the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the European University Association, and is a recognized member of the Worldwide Universities Network. https://www.southampton.ac.uk/courses/pre-sessional-language-courses.page
